It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Herbert Hendry, who died peacefully in his sleep on October 24, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born in Vancouver, Don moved with his family to Victoria. Don attended Vic High, where he excelled in sports and developed a lifelong love of athletics. As a young man, he enjoyed basketball, football, and soccer. His passion for sport continued throughout his life as he played rugby with the James Bay Athletic Association and soccer with Gorge FC. The friendships, camaraderie, and spirit of competition he found through sport remained important to him for many years.
In his professional life, Don was a founding partner of Hendry Swinton McKenzie Insurance Services Inc., established in 1983. He took great pride in the relationships he built throughout his career and in serving his clients and community.
Don is survived by his children, Brad, Gregg and Carla, grandchildren, and extended family, all of whom will miss him dearly and remember him with love.

An informal gathering to celebrate Don’s life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Thursday, January 21, 2027, at 2:00pm, on what would have been his 94th birthday. Family and friends are invited to join us, share memories, and raise a toast to Don.
