Don was born on March 17, 1923 in Transcona, Manitoba. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force, was a Supervisor at McGavin’s Bakery and was also employed at BC Ferries. He was active and coached in many sports, including being part owner of Victoria Cougars. Don was a kind, loving and generous man. He had many friends. We will miss his warm hugs, smile, laugh, wisdom and endless stories. He loved life and despite all of his illnesses, he perservered with a smile, hope and humour. He leaves his devoted and loving wife, Linda; stepdaughters, Candace and Kimberly (Jason) whom they loved so much; granddaughter, Lauren (his little jewel); sister-in-law, Sharon (Steve) Borradaile; mother-in-law, Marjorie Stewart; his cherished dogs, Gracie, Molly and Henry and kitty, Lola. Don is also survived by his two sons, Wayne (Chris), Gary (Lyn) and his only sister, June (Bill) Hardie.

“I love you and will miss you so much Baby. My heart’s soul will be forever empty without you until we are together again”….. Linda

I remember Don as a kind neighbour to my parents and one who would always stop his car to say hello even though he might not have seen you in years. A kind smile, keen sense of humour and a wine glass half full view of the world. My condolences to Don’s family especially Wayne with who I shared the baseball diamond, and Gary who I knew when we were both young.
As I lost my father a couple of years ago I can appreciate the hurt the family is experiencing but time will replace that pain with fond memories of the joy Don brought into your lives.
