1929 – 2011
Doris passed away very peacefully on December 26, 2011 after a 5 ½ year battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband, Derek, whose love for her knew no bounds through 60 years of marriage. Also grieving deeply is her son, Steve (in Texas), his wife, Kim and their children, Bradley, Michael, Courtney and Chase. Doris’ passing will create a huge void in the life of her daughter, Kathryn, (who lives here in Victoria), her husband, Alex and their son, Alastair. She will be sadly missed by Christine, mother of Bradley and Michael. A special thanks goes to Drs. Battershill and Yee and the staff of the Chemotherapy and Pain Clinic Departments at the Cancer Clinic. The final two weeks of Doris’ life were spent in Victoria Hospice where the love, care and personal attention were abundant.
Memorial arrangements will be a private family affair. A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be held by invitation in February or March. In lieu of floral arrangements, please consider making a donation to Victoria Hospice, 1510 Fort Street, Victoria, BC, V8S 5J2. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Derek,
I was out of country when Doris passed away and only just learned now. I enjoyed our cups of tea and Doris’ unfailing good spirits and sense of humour, even though she was faced with an uphill battle. I really appreciated reconnecting with you both and feel very fortunate to have been reminded of what a special person Doris was, and how much love you had for each other. My thoughts are with you.
