Doris faded away peacefully in Victoria, BC with her daughters, Carol and Elaine (Steve) by her side.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Christine (Erynn), Alan (Cryssie), Jennifer, Alanna (Tristan) and Michelle (Max); 5 great-grandchildren, Clara, Marcus, Wrenna, Ember and Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.  Mom was justifiably very proud of her age.  She lived through 2 pandemics, 2 World Wars, and The Great Depression.  Born on the Barker family farm in Kisbey, SK, she was the youngest of 5 children.  The family moved to Keremeos, BC then Doris moved to Victoria where she met her husband Glen who pre-deceased her in 1999.  She was a great homemaker, cook and baker!  Mom and Dad always had a large vegetable and flower garden.  Doris was a pioneer at recycling and repurposing.  Nothing that could still be used was ever thrown away!  Her family was her primary focus.  The genealogy research Mom left for us is invaluable.  She enjoyed Cribbage, Scrabble, reading, annual family holidays and trips to Reno.  Mom’s life was enriched by the relationships she formed at Mt. Tolmie Hospital and The Summit.   We would like to thank the staff from the bottom of our hearts for their care, kindness and friendships over the last 7 years.

A service will be held on June 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.  If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallgardens.com
