It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Dorothy Joanne Baynes, on October 19, 2022 at the age of 91. Dorothy is now reunited with Nolan, her beloved husband of 61 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul & Margaret Owen and brothers, Stan, Dale and Doug. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her four sons, JP (Lorrette), Doug (Donna), Brian (Marian), Jim (Debbie); 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta and Marilyn (Jim), sister-in-law Ruth, brother-in-law Jack, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy will be missed by many incredible lifelong friends. She was a true friend, cherishing these friendships which she nurtured over the years. She lived life to the fullest. She loved to sing and dance, make crafts, play Double Solitaire, and enjoyed a game of Bridge with friends. When she was with family and friends, she was always up for playing a variety of games.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the many people who cared for Dorothy at Parkwood Court. Your kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:30pm in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. It is with deepest sadness to hear of Dorothy’s passing. My memories of her were of a lady with great poise and kindness while being so very down to earth, loving and inclusive. There was always a smile on her face and cheer in her heart. I will never forget the time I was able to spend

My sincerest condolences to the boys and the ladies in their lives and all who knew and will feel the loss of such a beautiful soul.

We will miss you Auntie Dorothy. There have been so many great memories, but what I will remember the most are the times sitting around the card table as a kid and how supportive you were to our family over the years (I still have the blanket she made while she sat in my sister’s room in her final days 22 years ago).
One of the best aunties of all-time – always enjoyed our visits over the years. Her down-to-earth personality made it so easy for her to connect with everyone she met.
But of everything she accomplished in her life, it always seemed that what she was most proud of was raising 4 great boys.
Condolences to the whole family from April and I.
