I was only a few years out of the US Army when I enrolled in the graduate program at OVC. Every now and again I would encounter Dean Jones. He was always interested in the Yankee and made it a very personal and pleasant conversation. He was really interested in me.
Thank you to a world class Dean and educator.

Many of us remember Trevor when he was a regular attendee for many years at the Victoria Welsh Society. He usually brought a crowd of people to functions such as St David’s Day. He addressed the Society on a number of occasions and some of us have read his autobiography. I’m not sure where that is now perhaps we could put some extracts in our Newsletter. He was proud of his Welsh heritage and we are proud of his many accomplishments.
    Condolences to the family.

  • Carlton Gyles

I am Carlton Gyles, a retired faculty member at the Ontario Veterinary College. Trevor was Dean when I started as a student at the OVC in 1959 and when I returned as a faculty member in 1969.

Please accept my sympathy on your loss. Trevor is well known for his accomplishments as a leader in veterinary education in Canada and I remember him for that. I also remember him for his personal qualities of kindness, thoughtfulness and caring. I know you will be comforted by your memories of him.

  • Heather Going

~Dont think of him as gone away, his journey’s just begun, just think of him as resting in a place of warmth and comfort, think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much~

    Love you Grandpa Trevor

Marjorie, I was so sad to read the paper and see that Trevor died. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I am not positive you remember me but I was the Director of Care at James Bay and also a friend of the Henderson’s.

    Take care

    Irene

“Uncle Trevor” was my father’s closest friend from the time they were friends at University in Guelph .
He was a true “uncle” to us and my brothers, sister and I, loved him.
We have many memories of the days with Uncle Trevor in Guelph. He was an important part of our family gatherings, including birthdays and weddings.
Good for him to have lived such a long, memorable life. The world needs more like him.
Marjorie, my thoughts are with you.
    Love
    Evelyn Newbould

To the relatives of Mrs Barton

It was many years ago that l met my beloved math teacher from Toronto in the company of Dr. Lloyd-Jones. As a newly graduated veterinarian from the Ontario Veterinary College, l came to understand that she shared her love of teaching with another teacher of high regard, Dr. Lloyd-Jones. Although Dr. Lloyd-Jones had by that time left teaching, l came to know and respect him through his legacy honored to this day at OVC.
To all their extended family and friends, my condolences at the passing of another great teacher.

  • Anne (Heslop) Simmons

I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to Mrs Jones and all the many family members , relatives and friends of Dr. Jones.
He was a real gentleman and will live on in our memories.
I moved to Guelph in 1957 and was there until 1970 . For a variety of reasons I was lucky enough to have the great pleasure of talking with Dr. Jones on many campus occasions during those years.
In Victoria in 1974 I found I lived next door to a retired mountie ,
another Mr.Jones ( Stamboul Avenue) who of course was a cousin of Dr Jones. I still remember my last chat in Victoria with Dr. Jones , at a University of Guelph Alumni event . A great and very capable man is gone. Please accept my sympathy.

    Marjorie:

    Please except my condolencies.
Trevor taught our Class,( OVC 1950) pathology, went to bat for us with the Dean, whenever Class Members got out of line. Trevor invited me to join the OVC Faculty in 1953 after I had a year of practice in Ontario and two years as a Herd Veterinarian on a Texas Ranch. He made it possible for me to obtain my Masters and PH.D. degrees while on the Faculty, for which I am eternally grateful. Trevor was a giant on the International scene and leaves friends all over the world.
Trevor had a wide range of interests and an enquiring mind and I know all of you will miss his quick wit. I enjoyed reading his biography.

Grampa Trevor, even though I know you are comfortable now resting in Heaven my heart aches and tears come easily because I’m left here missing you, thinking of all the things you’ve done for me, how important my life and education was to you. Through my future in nursing I will take with me the unconditional support you have always provided. I am so thankful to you, you are forever in my heart. I love you Grampa.

  • Dr. Haydn Lloyd Davies

Helen and I send Marjorie our deepest sympathy. We respect and admire the very difficult time she has had since his first stroke.
Trevor was the most respected relative of all my mother’s relatives. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was greatly respected by the veterinary profession.
He visited us twice in Australia – visits we enjoyed very much. We named our younger son after him and he was his godfather.
He remains a model for all.

  • Dr James Shute

When I arrived at the University of Guelph in 1966 Trevor was Dean of OVC. I had many occasions thereafter to work wit him, both at the university and at Canadian Save the Children where we were both on the Board of Directors. I always held Trevor in the highest regard and knew he was person of calm, consistency and integrity. My sincere condolences to the family.

    Jim Shute
