Went to be with her Lord on April 21, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Born in Victoria, BC on August 24, 1922. Predeceased by her parents, John and May Neilson, cousin Frances West, and long time friends Allison Colburn and Mary Bool. She is survived by cousins Peggy (Archie) Kay; Ron (Wilma) Neilson; Bill (Ghitti) West; Tom (Yvonne) Dykes; Johnan McGlynn, and their families. She will be lovingly remembered by long time friends Frank and Sandra Colburn, Karen (Scott McAvella) Colburn, friends at Washington Manor and the congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Edie was a devoted member of her Church, and spent much of her time driving elderly church members and friends to appointments and lunches. From early days working at Crystal Photofinish she was an avid fan of photography. She was a lover of animals, with a special place for golden retrievers. Her lemon loaf was a welcome treat at family and church functions.
A private internment ceremony will be held with family.
A celebration of Edie’s life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church (2964 Tillicum Rd) on Friday, April 30 at 1:00pm with the Reverend R. Cleaver officiating. Reception to take place at the church after the service. Edie gave to many charities, so in lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

I have known Edie since I was 5 and still have fond memories of riding to church in the ‘rumble seat of her car’. She was a true friend and help to my mom and dad until they passed away Now you can visit Alex and Mollie Simpson Edie was always there for someone

Not long after I started attending Trinity I missed a Sunday service because of work. When I returned home I found that she had phoned and left a message for me seeing whether i was alright even though we had only met once before. Because of Edie’s kindness in reaching out to me I knew that Trinity was my home.

She really was a wonderful person.

I think of Edie every morning when I start up “Betsy Boops”, her old Volvo station Wagon. Edie was a life long faithful and true friend for my Mom, Mary. I have known Edie all of my life, and will miss this patient, smiling, and oh so generous woman. I wish she had been able to sit awhile on my Mom’s bench. Sharon Bool
