May 31, 1927 – August 26, 2011

With great sadness we announce the passing of a very special woman. Predeceased by her husband, Ron; Elsie will be missed and remembered by sons, Walter (Mary), Jamie (Annette); daughter, Sylvia (Jaymie); grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

Elsie loved to sing, dance and perform – a true entertainer. She was also a people-person and over her lifetime developed a large circle of loyal friends. She had a genuine concern for the welfare of others; volunteering for various charities and working with special needs adults. Elsie will be remembered and missed for her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church on North Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Symphony. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

There are so many people still here at Garth Homer who have wonderful, intense and happy memories of the good times when Elsie was on staff here. She was the “cruise director”, the “go to” person when there was a problem. The parties! the sales events!
    the goodies!
On a more personal note, when Elsie left and some of us left in pro
test of this at the beginning of the “dark” days for the Society, Elsie,
Abby and I “saved” ourselves by taking up aerobics and keeping closely in touch. The years slipped by but always I will keep her in my heart.

We were so saddened to hear of Auntie Elsie’s passing. Our memories are full of all the times our families spent together over the years. Her danish pastry was as true treat and devoured with relish by all of us!! She held a very special place in our family. She always made us feel welcome even if we hadn’t seen her in a while, and was interested in catching up with all that we and our families were doing. She will be very much missed by us all.

Elsie was loved and admired by all who knew her for her kindness, positive spirit, and generous interest in others. She was a friend to two generations in our home – Bonnie the Mom, and Cameron and Dylan the Dancers – who grew up with her as being part of their extended tap dancing family.
We are sadly unable to attend Elsie’s memorial service as we are in Vancouver at the International Tap Festival – but know that in Elsie’s heart and spirit she will be dancing along side us with no regrets.
She was a truly beautiful lady and we will miss her.

  • Rick Lyon
