It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet Emma at the young age of 41.

Emma is survived by her beloved family; Husband, Colin and two children, Hudson and Elly (Elysia Guevara) including much loved family Bulldog, Barge. Brother, Simon and parents, Rosemary and Michael (Mike) Williams. Also, by her Mother-in-Law, Barbara (Darcy) Haddock and Father-in-Law Tony (Donna) Gill; Elly’s dad, Ricardo (Ricky) Guevara and his family.  As well as Emma’s extended family and many friends.

Emma was born in Terrace, BC.  She lived most of her life in Victoria, where she attended Willows, Margaret Jenkins and Lansdowne schools.

Emma worked at Thrifty Foods, Fairfield.  Initially, in the Deli Department and later with the Sendial Program.  She felt tremendous pride working with Sendial and was attached to many of the volunteers as they were to her.  She then found fulfillment in being a stay-at-home mom to Elly and Hudson.  She enjoyed volunteering at Hudson’s school and their home was a hub for Hudson’s friends.

Emma had a special quality of drawing people in and was loved by all who knew her.  She had great compassion and empathy, whether rescuing stray dogs or helping wherever she saw a need.  The impact of her loss is being felt greatly by all who knew and loved her.

A private visitation and cremation has taken place and there are plans for a future Celebration of Emma’s life – date to be determined.

A support fund for Colin, Hudson and Elly has been set up by Emma’s close friends, Crista Turcotte and Michelle Lum with www.gofundme.com titled “Emma Gill Memorial & Support Fund”.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I met Emma at the deli counter at Thrifty Foods. She was so darn pretty, wearing long, gold earrings and had a beautiful smile. Little did I know that one day I too would be working at Thrifty Foods Fairfield! Emma was always so nice to the customers and staff. Although I did not work in the Deli I saw Emma everyday we shared the same workdays. We always said hello and shared stories in the staff room. We had a baby shower for Hudson in my home, where food, drink and babies on their blankets entertained us all. Even though I had not seen Emma in years, I know Emma would have had a hug for me if we had crossed paths. She was just that kind of person. Loving and kind.
You will be missed, Miss Emma. My thoughts are with Emma’s family and friends. We were all lucky to know Emma.

We read Emma’s lovely obituary with much shock and sadness. Although we haven’t been in contact of late, my memory of Emma is as the most beautiful of babies and a sweet young girl. I am pleased that she had a supportive family including Hudson and that she had many years with Ellie. Rosemary and Mike – you were such loving and kind parents. Emma was fortunate to have found her way into your lives. Thinking of you, Ken and Fern Davey
