It is always difficult to say good-bye to someone who means the world to you but the time has come to honour our Mother for all the gifts she has given us. Emma was born in Malito, Italy on October 14, 1927 and passed away on December 9, 2011 in Victoria, British Columbia. Emma is survived by her husband of 60 years, Giuseppe; her children, Mario (Irene), Vincenzo (Karen), Emma, and Josephine (Ron); her grandchildren, Michael, Theo, Natalie, Katherine, Joseph, David and Benjamin; her brother, Guido DeRose and her sister, Maria Carpino. She is predeceased by her parents, Luigina and Vincenzo; sisters, Rosina and Maria; brothers, Franco, Giovanni, Giuseppe, Antonio and Rafelle. Her presence in our lives was an eternal gift that was ingrained in the fabric of who we are as people and a family. Though she is no longer with us on earth she will never leave us.
On behalf of our Mother and Father we wish to express our gratitude to the staff of the Kiwanis Pavilion in Victoria, which was her home for the past four years. There are no words to adequately thank you for your kindness, care and support to us all. You made a difficult time easier with your friendship.
The celebration of our mother’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15th at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Victoria BC. Interment to follow at the Royal Oak Burial Park Mausoleum with Celebrant Father William Hann. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

It’s with tears and sadness as I give our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences. Emma will be present forever as there are so many of her qualities passed on through to her children. She was a very generous, caring mama and we will always remember the meals she cooked and how caring Emma was. Thinking of you at this time.

Mark Whiteman and Family I was part of the Vena family from age 12 onwards and Emma always made me feel like I was part of the Vena family. I cherish the memories of the care she took to feed anyone (me) who was at the table when supper was ready. She was always happy.
