With a deep sadness, we announce the passing of Esther Wildig. Esther immigrated to Canada with her family in 1928 and settled in Victoria. In 1934, she married the love of her life, Chick, who predeceased her in 2000 after more than 60 years of marriage. Esther will be greatly missed by daughter, Loretta and her husband, Art Dodsworth; grandchildren, Stephen, Sharon (Lloyd) and Christine; great-grandchildren, Amanda (Chris), Leah and Shawn and many nieces and nephews. All will miss her wonderful smile and especially her stories. Esther was a long time resident of Oak Bay until 2001, when she moved to Beacon Hill Villa in James Bay, just blocks away from where she and her family lived after coming from England. We wish to express many thanks to the caring staff at Beacon Hill Villa.
A Celebration of Esther’s Life will be held in the Lady Chapel of Christ Church Cathedral, Quadra at Rockland, on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow at the Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory would be appreciated to a charity of one’s choice.
