1913-2012

It is with love, but sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Fred Fulton. Fred was born in Victoria on August 28, 1913 where he lived his entire life. Predeceased by his loving wife Wanda in 2008, his grandson and pal, Nathan in 1990, and his 7 brothers and sisters, Dad was a proud Canadian, but proud also of his Irish heritage. He is survived by his loving daughters Sharon, Colleen and her husband Peter Roberts, and his grandchildren Sean (Michelle) and Selena Roberts (Jason) who he adored; his special nieces Lucy Cheston, Jean Hubbard, Patsy Stewart, and Andrea Fulton all of Victoria; Gloria Bond of Vancouver; and Susan Cooke Barnett of New Zealand; his nephews Donald Ross, Fred Stone, Herbie Pickup and Monty Fulton; Mike Cooke of Arizona; many great nieces and nephews; and newborn Kade, his great-great nephew who will carry on the Fulton name; and of course very special life long friends Norm and Sally Webb.

Dad enjoyed a fulfilling and lengthy career as a printer with the Victoria Times-Colonist. He loved the outdoors, his sports teams but what he valued and cherished the most was his family. He was still living at home and active until the end regularly visiting Qualicum Beach and the casino. Talk about luck of the Irish! Dad will be fondly remembered by so many who were touched by his work ethic, generosity, and sense of humour, but it was his wonderful story telling of his life’s experiences that was legendary, and what his family and friends enjoyed the most.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Stigant, Dr. Snodgrass; and Dr. Pai and Dr. Ripley and the 6N nursing staff of VGH who provided wonderful supportive care the last week of Dad’s life. We would also like to acknowledge his devoted care-givers from Beacon Home Services, and the kindness of Tom and Denise Leahy (Victoria); John and Lesley Ferris and Keith and Bev Smith (Qualicum Beach); and finally his pal Gucci.

We will not only miss our Dad, Father-in-law, Grandpa, and Uncle, but a truly great friend whose memory will continue to inspire us all. Mom and Dad are finally together again. We love you Dad!

At Dad’s request, there will be no funeral, but a family gathering celebrating his life will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
