Passed away quietly on April 26, 2010 at the age of 69. Survived by his daughter Dioni; son Bradley; grandson Shawn; sisters Florence, Lillian and Cynthia; brothers Wayne and Grant. He was the most loving, caring kindest father and had the biggest heart to all. His passion was his job as a Backhoe Operator and Samson his dog was his “King of Kings & Lord of Lords”. George spent most nights gardening, was an avid guitar player, loved his “prime rib, Ukranian sausage & eggs” and enjoyed fresh baked bread with his son before bed. All of his passions are finished with his favourite saying “unbelievable”. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA.

Visitation to be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at McCall Bros. Funeral Home, 1400 Vancouver at Johnson Street. A Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 3:00pm at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel.

We are so sorry to hear of George’s passing. He was a bright light at Ukrainian Christmas with his amazing guitar and generous smile. We believe him to be one of the nicest men we have known and he will be greatly missed.

“I was saddened to hear of the passing of George. I had the pleasure of working with him occasionally when I was with Saanich Municipality. He always made my day happier with his illuminating personality and I especially liked both, his work ethics and conversation. I knew George when I first came to the island many years ago when I played bass guitar. We had a few jams and it was ‘unbeleivable’—It may sound strange but I beleive that George is somewhere else making people laugh and feel good about themselves like he did for me……

Dear Brad, We were so sorry to hear that your father passed away. We know how much he was a part of your life and such a good father. I always remember his broad smile when we would meet him, and he always took the time to have a nice chat. May you always be strong for him and know that he is with your mother now, whom I always remember as a soft, kind woman. Time does go so fast, so keep the memories and move ahead. With fond memories, Alice and George Schellenberg

I met George in 1992 and having come from the same area as George was born and grew up we had many conversations. The amazing thing about George was it didn’t matter wheather it was millionaire or pauper to George they were people and he treated them all the same. In all our conversations I can never remember George saying an unkind word about anyone. Unbelievable!!! But then George you were truly unbelievable.
