With great sadness we announce the passing of Harvey Dale Sherman, beloved father, husband, and grandfather, on August 26, 2026. He is survived by Sue, his loving wife of 62 years, children Dann, Ken & Karen and grandchildren, Trinity & Simon. He will also be missed by many cousins from Victoria, the Lower Mainland and Alberta.
Born in Calgary, Harvey moved to Victoria at age 5. He graduated from Royal Oak High School and apprenticed as a mechanic before joining the Saanich Fire Department where he served 30 years, retiring as Assistant Chief in 1995. He restored countless vehicles in his time and he enjoyed any new challenge presented to him. He was known to all as the person who could build or fix anything, and would always put aside his own project to help a friend.
Harvey was loved and respected by many, and had lifetime friendships forged from summers spent at Cordova Bay, his 56 years with The Vintage Car Club, Saanich Fire Department, and The Royal Oak Historical Society. His strength and kindness will be remembered and missed by all of us who were fortunate to know him. Details of service to follow.
