On Tuesday 23 September 2008, Helen peacefully joined the company of angels surrounded by members of her family following a long illness. Helen was born in Lloydminster, Alberta, the middle of three children, Stella and George.

Helen was predeceased by her eldest child, Greg (’99). Helen’s greatest joy was her family and she leaves her devoted husband Peter, and her loving children, Ingrid (Dennis), Shelly ( Bob ), Darlene, Sher ( Dale), Maralyn ( daughter-in-law) her equally loving grandchildren, Gregg, Jarrod, Kareen, Shellie, Russell, Danielle, Trevor, Kallie, Ryan, Konner, and Madison, and, her great grandchildren, Cody, Kyleah, Conner and Lillie.

Helen’s life was one of triumph over adversity successfully raising her family while being on her own for thirty five years. After a wide variety of jobs and learning new skills her most rewarding role for thirteen years, before her retirement at aged sixty, was as the first Ward Clerk in the newly opened Extended Care Unit at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital in 1976, where she gained a universal respect and devotion from the staff

A sincere and grateful thanks to all of the members of ECU2 team for their wonderful care given Helen throughout her stay and final journey.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel (Johnson & Vancouver Streets), Victoria on Thursday 2 October at 2:30 PM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation, 2166 Mt Newton X Rd, Saanichton BC, V8M 2B2.
