January 9, 1939 – June 19, 2013

Blair passed away peacefully into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on June 19, 2013.  He will be forever remembered by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Dorothy; sons Blair and Dwayne (Christine); daughter Lisa; grandchildren Ryan and Jonathan; brother Russell (Ginny), cousin Janet (Ivor) and nieces and nephew.

Blair was born in Vancouver January 9, 1939 to Mary and John Anderson.  Mary raised the boys and, to allow her to stay at home with them, took in boarders.  Blair attended Queen Elizabeth and Lord Bing schools.  The family attended Dunbar Heights Baptist Church where the pastor was John Richards.  John spent quality time with the young people and on one of the trips with Pastor Richards to Hatzic Lake Bible Camp, Blair accepted the Lord as his personal Lord and Savior.  This changed his life for eternity.

Russ was a father figure to Blair.  The two of them enjoyed a lifetime of memories.  Blair met Dorothy when he boarded across the street from where she lived.  It was almost love at first sight.  They were engaged in 3 months and married in a year.  They had a wonderful life together creating many memories as they raised their 3 children and spent time with their 2 grandchildren.  Saturday was always hamburgers and the hockey game.

Blair spent time in the Air Force Reserves at Comox and Camp Borden.  Then in August 1959, he moved to Victoria where he took a position with Gunderson Stokes and Walton, an accounting firm.  He received his CA degree in 1967.  From 1971 to 1991, Blair was comptroller for the businesses of John Copp.  He was blessed to enjoy a career that allowed him to use his love of numbers and, with flexibility afforded by John, to faithfully and passionately serve on various boards of Baptist Housing Ministry and Camp Qwanoes.  He also volunteered in multiple capacities at Central Baptist Church.  After retirement, Blair was interim Director for Youth for Christ and later did the accounting for Lloyd Richards at Aloyd Fitness.

Blair was an upbeat person who was always a lot of fun.  He loved to spend time with his family, play golf with his friends and always had a story to tell.  He was the anchor for his family—steadfast, loving, supportive and kind.  It was an honor for his family to look after him in the last few years of his life.  He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Central Baptist Church, 833 Pandora Avenue on Friday, June 28 at 1:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Blair may be made to Camp Qwanoes, Box 250, Crofton, BC, Canada V0R 1R0.  Parking will be available at McCalls and Central Baptist Church.

Dear Dorothy, and Family, and Russ and Ginny,
Our hearts hold you all up to God in this time of sorrow mixed with joy. Joy for release and sorrow for the loss. We share a Saviour and some of the same journey and know God is present and all sufficient for each moment. We have so many memories of Blair and Russ doing their comedic moments at Central. What an encouragement they were to us in our early years of faith. Your family was such an example of living in the truth and the Lord Jesus. Thank you so much for going before us. We will not be attending the service and our hearts will be there with you all praying for you. Blessing you all with God’s presence and His peace, Gaye and Don Patterson
