LUNN Ian Stuart, P. Eng. June 11, 1938 — August 6, 2009
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ian after a brave battle with cancer. Ian was born in London, England, the only child of Walter and Rose Lunn. He was educated at Emanual School and Imperial College, University of London. Ian joined Mobil Oil Canada in Production Engineering in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1962. He stayed with Mobil for his total career, retiring after 38 years in 2000. A brief sojourn in the international oil patch lasted for 25 years with postings in Libya, Norway, The Netherlands and Nigeria. On return to Calgary in 1995 Ian worked with the Sable Offshore Energy Project and Terra Nova Oil. Ian is survived by his wife Jean, daughter Fiona (Lorenzo) and son Stuart (Erin) and four grandchildren, Stefan, Siena and Luca De Antonis and Duncan Lunn. The family would like to express their thanks to the Nurses of the Gordon Head Community Services, the Staff and Doctors of the B.C. Cancer Agency and the Victoria Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, followed by a reception in the Family Centre.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Victoria Hospice or the B.C. Cancer Agency.

Jean, Stuart & Family – Cathy and I were saddened to learn of Ian’s passing. I didn’t always agree with him when we worked together on the Sable Project but he usually proved to be right in the end. As a result, I consider Ian to be one of the most influential mentors that I’ve had during my working career. By the time of his retirement I had also grown to consider him to be a friend. Our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

    Dear Jean
We were sorry to read of Ian’s passing and wanted you to know that we send our thoughts your way. We remember Ian, as we all lived in The Hague, as a very kind man with a wonderful sense of humour. It is funny how through life you meet people, spend some time together, perhaps part ways, but you always remember how people touched your life…..he was a good man.
