TAYLOR, Irene Joyce passed away on December 21, 2011 in Sidney , BC. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Frederick and Fanny Blackhall, on June 11, 1926.
Mom is survived by Kathy (Bernard), Ian (Rosemary) and Randy (Vivian); grandchildren James (Kaite), Kristine, Ashley ( Pete), Michael, Bradley (Amanda) and Kyle; great-grandchildren Riley, Leeam, Bishop, Kade and Emmary; her sister Grace; many nieces, nephews and their families.
Mom graduated from Linwood High School, then attended Manitoba Business College. She worked for the Great West Life Assurance Company. On September 9, 1949 she married Harold (Harry) Taylor. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2009. They lived in Winnipeg, MB, Ignace, ON, and Thunder Bay, ON, where dad was District Manager for Trans Canada Pipelines. Dad retired in 1984 and they spent many years travelling to Arizona, Florida, and California. In 1989 they moved to Sidney, BC. They joined Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club. Mom spent many years playing Bridge with her friends. Dad passed away in 2009, and mom spent her remaining years in Sidney, BC.
Mom requested no service, and cremation has followed. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Richard Kennedy and staff, as well as to staff and volunteers at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital – Palliative Care Unit. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
