SMITH, Irene Juanita Kendall (nee Jordan) – Passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Eric Martin Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, April 16, 2006. Born in Nanaimo on September 3, 1922, she was predeceased by her parents; her sister and brother. Irene is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gordon; six sons, Don, Lawrie (Jackie), Ray (Sue), Dale (Wendy), Glyn (Cindy) and Bruce (Sheri); her daughter, Penny (George) Bridges; seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and her brother, Earl Jordon of Nanaimo, BC. She will be missed by many relatives and good friends.

Irene was employed for 32 years in the Dockyard and one of her main hobbies was knitting. Irene loved to knit and all her knitting was either given to her grandchildren or donated to local hospitals, churches or relief agencies.     

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Merali and Irene who where there when we needed them the most. Also to the nurses on the 5th floor at Eric Martin.

A service to celebrate Irene’s life will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Graham and Torrey McCall Family Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
