March 10, 1938 – August 25, 2011
After a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease, Jean passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC. He was born in Ottawa and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Ottawa. Jean held various management positions over his 38 year career within the Canadian pharmaceutical industry. He was an avid nature enthusiast spending countless hours sharing his love and passion for the outdoors with his family and friends. Jean is survived by his wife, Sharon (married for 46 years) and their three sons: Paul (Leslie), Maurice (Doris), Charles (Agnès), and six grandchildren. His funeral was held earlier this week at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Donations can be made on his behalf to the Victoria Epilepsy & Parkinson’s Centre http://vepc.bc.ca/donate-to-vepc/tribute-gifts.html. Judy Dowling Dear Sharon,
Andre and I are so saddened to hear of Jean’s passing. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family.
I have fond memories of working besides Jean at Syntex for thirteen years. He couldn’t have been a better “neighbour.” His sense of humour kept me smiling. Those were happy days…..
With warmest thoughts,

John Carkner Dear Sharon and family,
I was saddened to hear of Jean’s passing, and offer my sincere condolences. He was a great man, and I am sure you have many happy memories of good times with him. I have a couple of pictures that are fond memories for me, taken around 1988 on the dock at the Keel Island camp in Lac aux Sangsue (the “Wabe Maqua” lease). The occasion was a fishing trip with the Coltons, Carkners. Castonguays and Carswells.
If you give me your e-mail address, I would be pleased to share them with you.
Yours truly,
John Carkner

Dear Sharon
I am so sorry to hear about Jean. Many years have passed but our personal paths never did. I see from the Obituary that you moved to B.C.
The reason we searched for Jean today is that one of my daughters wanted to speak to someone who knew their father and I thought of Jean.
I’m sure the boys have grown up, just as my girls have in the last 25 years and maybe we will be able to catch up some day soon.
My thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.
