Marie was a close friend of Emma Metzlaff through work. While Marie was looking for a cottage, they went on many excursions until Marie finally found the perfect place for herself at Browster Bay on Lake Winnipeg. Emma’s brother Ed family had a place a mile away at Camp Neustadt and they enjoyed time spent with Marie. When Marie retired and moved back to Victoria to be with her mother, they tired to spent the summer at Browster Bay.

I worked with Marie in the Social Work Dept at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. In fact, I remember on my first day of work at the hospital Marie created a special floral arrangement for my desk with flowers hand-picked from her garden at home. As I worked with and got to know Marie, I realized that this type of kind-caring was quite typical of Marie’s personality. Since her retirement, Marie and I would exchange Christmas cards each year and I always sent her photos of my children. I will always hold dear memories of time spent together, I will remember the way Marie’s face would light up when she talked about her past travels to far off places and I will always remember Marie’s laugh…she had a great laugh!
    Rest in Peace Marie

Marie and I worked together (side by side) in Winnipeg at the Grace General Hospital. She was a very thoughtful and caring person. One of my all time best gifts was one Christmas when Marie put together a special basket of food items picked with great care due to my then situation and my food intolerances. It was a wonderful blessing. On my first trip off of the continent with my daughter and her friend, Marie made each of us a special travel package.
I will always be blessed by memories of her

We are old friends of Marie’s from Victoria College and Metropolitan United Church Young People’s Union. Although we did not see one another often, we did keep connected with Marie’s mom through the exchange of Christmas cards. We were fortunate to visit with Marie and her mom about a year or so ago. We were truly saddened by their passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
    Kathy and Chas.
