John was born September 30, 1967, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Victoria BC and left this world September 26, 2026, after a stroke and months of declining health.
John is predeceased by his mother Pamela Kathleen Baanstra and his brother David Stephen Baanstra. He is survived by his father Jacobus (John) Baanstra and his sister Jean Elizabeth Elliott as well as his nephew Christoper Elliott and his nieces Jet and Jennifer Elliott.
He died way too young. He loved his family and we loved him and will miss him greatly. After losing David just one year ago it took a great toll on John, and he struggled without his beloved brother. For his family losing him so soon after David is heart breaking and Jean is now the only sibling left.
John was always the funniest guy in the room. He loved acting and loved music, movies and comedy. He worked for five years in stagecraft which he loved and 20 years for O’keelle water proofing which destroyed his health at a young age causing him to have an organ transplant which altered his life forever.
His death leaves those of us who loved him heartbroken. As John would say, “Do not go gentle into that goodnight…peace be with you.”
