SKILLINGS – John Gordon -With shock and sorrow, we regret to announce the sudden passing of John Gordon Skillings, on August 15, 2004. Born January 8, 1934 in Victoria, he is predeceased by his parents, Velda and Frank. After Frank’s death in 1965, John continued the Skillings’ family tradition by leading the family business, Victoria Van and Storage, up until his retirement in 1991. John is survived by Joy, his wife of 49 years, their four children, Sharon, Peter (Patti), Michael (Karen), Gordon (Marion) and 8 grandchildren, Stuart, Russell, Spencer, Kate, Ashlee, Declan, Kevin and Ella – all of them declaring John as the absolute best grampa in the whole entire world. Grampa always had a sucker or a loonie and was their #1 fan, filling most of his time by cheering them on at their many different sporting events. John also leaves behind his brothers, Bob (Trudi), Doug (Bev), Rod (Del) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

John’s generosity, compassion and wonderful sense of humour will be sorely missed by his many friends in the Camosun Gyro Club, friends and team mates in the Ebb Tide, JBAA and Japanese rugby communities. Most of all he will be so terribly missed by his family. John’s incredible strength of character and his strong family values will carry on through his children and their children.
