J. Albert Rheaume age 86 died peacefully after a brief illness in Royal Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, March 22, 2009. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Louise in 2005. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba June 5, 1922, Albert began work with the Canadian Pacific Railway in January 1941. In 1942 he joined the Military. After his military service, he resumed work with the railway serving in various supervising positions across Eastern and Western Canada. He retired in 1984 in Calgary, AB and moved to Victoria where he kept busy volunteering in different capacities. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Albert is survived by his daughter, Blanche Reynolds of Victoria; sons, William (Bill) (Arlene) of Banff, Alberta, Richard (Ruby) of Vancouver and Marc (Shannon) of Calgary, Alberta; numerous nephews; nieces and grandchildren and two great grand children. The family thanks the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their compassion and care.
Prayers will be offered at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Wednesday March 25 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Andrew’s Cathedral, View and Blanchard Streets on Thursday, March 26 at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Hatley Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice
