It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Judy Laton (nee Page). She will be forever missed by her husband, Kevin; daughter, Cindy; sons, Will and Jay; daughters-in-law, Cindy and Mary; and grandchildren, Colin, Doug, Justin and Lucas. She is also survived by her sisters, Wendy and Gail; and her brother, Eric. Judy will forever be remembered for her unconditional love and affection to her husband, family and friends.

During her children’s younger years, Judy was active in their activities by volunteering with the National Little League and Oak Bay Minor Hockey. She served as vice-president and scheduling coordinator for a number of years and was proud of her contributions.

Judy worked for the provincial government for 20 years and made many friends during this time whose friendship she continued when she retired just a short 3 years ago. She was also proud to be part of the early morning Crystal Pool gang and often spoke of them fondly. Judy also made sure to visit long time childhood friend, Linda, in Kelowna as often as possible.

Since retiring, Judy and Kevin enjoyed camping (glamping) in their travel trailer around the island and the Okanagan; often coordinating camping excursions with sons, Will and Jay (and their families). Judy and Kevin also travelled to visit daughter, Cindy, in Red Deer as often as possible.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McCall Bros. Downtown, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, in the Family Centre on February 26, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Lastly, the family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Royal Jubilee Hospital for the care and compassion they provided to Judy over the past two weeks.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Judy and I were best friends in our teen years, and were Maid of Honour at each others weddings. We shared many memories and kept in touch. When we saw each other we could just start talking as if we saw each other daily. My condolences to all family members, I know and share your sadness.

So sorry to hear about Judy’s passing. As a child, the thing I remember most was that she was always smiling and laughing. All the best to Will, Jay and the family.

  • Art & Marilyn Thomas

Judy was a favourite friend and family member for over 50 years. She was always there for us all. She always had coffee on. She often hosted large parties, like serving cinnamon rolls and goodies during poker games in the evenings spent camping at Sooke, or enduring silliness by many others when at Rathtrevor Beach, or the fun of softball games at the park on Stroud Rd. We’ll also remember recent reunions in Maui, or locally at Tims for coffee. She was a wonderful lady. We’ll miss you, Jude, and we send our condolences to Kevin and all the Family. Rest in peace.

  • Chiara Crozier
