Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Mentor, Teacher, Friend.

Our beloved and beautiful Lavonne passed away peacefully on the evening of August 22, 2013, after a very gallant but short battle with cancer, her mother and husband by her side.

Lavonne was born July 30, 1963, and is the beautiful daughter of Jack and Donna Schaddelee; mother to Riley; wife to Kelly; sister to Jack (Carolyn), three special cousins (sisters): Cathleen (Paul), Lori (Doug), and Suzanne; Auntie to Jake, Chelsea, Colton, Rachel, Andrew, Leanna and Lisa. Lavonne is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and coworkers.

Lavonne graduated from Claremont high school and then attended the University of Victoria, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education, graduating with distinction. She went on to teach for a number of years and was very active within the Saanich school district where Lavonne dedicated twelve years to the districts PAC and CO-PACS at varying levels.

Lavonne chose to return to the family business, The Dutch Bakery and Coffee Shop, in 1994, where she co-managed with her brother and two cousins with incredible dedication and passion for many years.

Lavonne not only loved with all her heart, but also, is loved by so many for her incredible kindness, compassion and tenderness.

We would like to thank the incredible team from the Royal Jubilee Hospital eight south oncology ward, Victoria Hospice and all the family and friends who supported Lavonne during her fight.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospice Society in Lavonne’s name.

Rest in peace our beautiful Lavonne. Your spirit, smile and zest for life lives on forever.

My husband and I were so terribly sorry to hear of Lavonne’s death.

I first met her many years ago when we were both in the wedding party of my husband’s sister Alison Bennett. Over the years I saw her now and then when I was in Victoria at the bakery. The last time I was there was about 2 years ago. At the time she told me about her son Riley and his accomplishments. He was obviously the light of her life and she was SO proud of him.

My husband spoke to her at his sister Alison’s funeral in June and we really appreciated that she came over for the ceremony. She was so full of life it’s hard to believe she’s gone.

Please accept our most sincere sympathy for your loss.

We’re so very sad to hear about your painful loss of Lavonne. A friend (from Victoria and ORPS) recently told us and sent us the link to see her Celebration of Life (that I watched in its entirety), and all of you did a fabulous job of paying tribute to Lavonne. It was very evident that Lavonne touched so many people’s hearts.

Our thoughts are with all of you, and you can keep all those wonderful memories of times spent with Lavonne in your hearts forever.
