May 16, 1920 – Sept. 19, 2008
Born in Shell River, Manitoba, Mom moved to Victoria BC where she and husband James raised their 5 children. Mom was an avid gardener, and was able to showcase her talents in her beautiful gardens on both Duchess St. and Blackwood St. where she lovingly tended to her fuchsias, begonias, roses, tasty tomatoes and many other flowers. In addition to gardening, Mom also loved to bowl, play bingo, cards, bocce, knit and to crochet her beautiful table covers that adorn all her children’s tables.
A most self-less lady, Mom never hesitated in helping her children when called upon.
Deeply saddened by her passing are her children Jim (Arlene), Bob (Barbara), Barbara (Ken) Oliver, Elizabeth (Albert) Johnson, Donna (Jeff) Knadle; as well as her grandchildren Ron (Vickie), Jessica, Shannon (Russell), Josh, Dustin (Chrissy), Kristine (Marx) Mohammed, Devon (Cameron), Hamish and great grandchildren Kodie and Shayna. Mom was also survived by sisters Gertie, Vennette (John), brother Dorin, and sister in laws Pearl, Beverly and Nessie, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased in 1990 by her loving husband James of 48 years, and also by her Mother Susan (Steve Jarrett) and father Henry Hiebert, brothers Henry, Ray, Alva, Stan and sister Amy.
We are sure that Mom is now enjoying the freedom to garden again with Dad puttering along side of her. We miss you and love you and will cherish you always with our fondest memories Mom. You were the light of our lives.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors in the RJH ER, and is very grateful to the caring staff and volunteers of the Victoria Hospice for their support and attention to detail during such a difficult time.
No service by request but a family memorial will be held at the Queensborough Community Centre in New Westminister on Oct 18th from 1:00 until 5:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Victoria Hospice, 1952 Bay Street, Victoria BC, V8R 1J8.
