It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Manuel Dacosta Galego. He passed away peacefully to the arms of our Lord surrounded by his family. Manuel was born to the late Francelina and Antonio Galego in Rosario, Lagoa Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal on September 1, 1935.
He was the eldest son out of six children. He leaves behind his wife Maria de Estrela of 58 years; his children, Francelina (John), Liduina (Helder), John (Helen), Ana (Daniel), Nelia (Rob); 7 grandchildren, Robert (Caitilin), Deborah, Vanessa (Joshua), Jonathan, Stephanie and Hailey; five great grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Haidyn, Mari, Jonathan Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Manuel immigrated to Victoria, BC on June 22, 1972, with his wife Maria de Estrela, his mother and five children in hopes of a better future for his family. Manuel loved his faith. He spent many hours volunteering for the Holy Spirit Committee at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, where he also attended the seniors group to play his favourite card game (Sueca) with his friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Manuel was a fisherman back in the Acores and pursued his fishing passion in Canada. Over the years, he made many friends who he would go and meet at his favourite Tim Hortons at Saanich Plaza where he went for coffee every day .
Manuel was the most kindest, loving, caring, gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humour and love for life. He touched many lives and he will be forever missed by his family and friends.

A Viewing will be held before Mass at 12.30 pm and the Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish 4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria, BC.
