Margaret McDonough (nee Cooper)

Passed away peacefully at home in Victoria on August 14, 2010 at the age of 74. Predeceased by her loving husband, Brian in 2008. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carol (Colin) Henderson and sons, Paul (Tammy) McDonough and Garry (Julie) McDonough. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Neil, Peter and Iain Henderson and Liam and Sophie McDonough. Margaret was born in Crawcrook, near to Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. She grew up during the Second World War and always spoke fondly of the love of her parents and in particular her wonderful sister, Jean. After moving to Canada, she worked as a shop assistant at various bakeries in Oak Bay. In retirement, she volunteered her time at Ten Thousand Villages and Oak Bay Lodge. The family would like to thank Dr. Judith Finlayson for many years of health care and in particular Joyce and Doreen who helped out in recent weeks.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will take place in the near future. In lieu of flowers, Margaret requested that any donations go to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, #300 – 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1E2 or to the BC Cancer Agency, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, BC V8R 6V5.
