Born on April 15th 1917, died peacefully at home on February 17th 2008.
Mariano was born in Villa Franca do Campo Sao Miguel Azores and immigrated to Victoria, BC in November 1964 at the age of 46. He passed away on what was his 61st wedding anniversary. Mariano leaves behind his wife, Maria Da Conceicao; five daughters, Fatima (Teotonio Lima), Grace ( Norman Mccrimon), Carmen ( Armando Furtado), Maria (William Taylor), Sidalia (Chris Whimbey); son, Tony (Shandra Clifford); nine grandchildren, Mario, Rose, Christopher, Carmen, Rachelle, Herb, Andrea, Antonio and Sephia and his three great grandchildren, Alexander, Tye and Kayla. Mariano was an avid gardener. He loved to spend his days fishing and racing pigeons with his son. He had a passion for classical music and Portuguese Fado. Mariano was an energetic, fun and strong person with an entertaining sense of humour who will be sadly missed by all those who knew him and whose lives he touched.
Prayers will be offered at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4635 Elk Lake Drive on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
