“The righteous, even when taken early, are at rest in God’s peace”. Wisdom 4:7–15.

We mourn the passing of Mary Arasuma, a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering faith. Her life ended sooner than we ever imagined, yet we hold fast to the promise of Scripture: the righteous, even when taken before their time, are gathered gently into God’s rest.

Mary was hospitalized on July 17th , 2026, and on August 20th , 2026, at 7:05 PM, she departed this world with a serenity that could only come from God. She passed away softly, carried by His love, free from suffering, and embraced by the mercy she lived by.

Her life was a story of sacrifice and courage. As a young Filipina, she left her home to support her family, stepping into a world of hardship and uncertainty. She endured exploitation and pain overseas, yet she never allowed bitterness to take root. Instead, she lived out Christ’s command with quiet dignity, caring for the vulnerable, lifting the weary, and offering kindness even when she herself was hurting.

In God’s mysterious grace, her path joined with William’s. Both had survived great trials; both carried wounds that only love could heal. Together they built a home grounded in resilience, faith, and devotion. Their five children, Michael, Josephine, Dak, Lawal, and Helen, are the joy of Mary’s heart and the purpose of her every sacrifice.

We grieve her deeply. The ache of her absence is heavy. Yet even in sorrow, we remain grateful for her life, her courage, her tenderness, and the years God allowed us to share with her.

Rest peacefully, dear Mary, for the righteous are gathered early into God’s eternal rest. You are forever loved, forever missed, and forever held in God’s embrace.

A Funeral Service will be held at Sacred Heart Parish, 4040 Nelthorpe Street, Victoria, BC on Friday, August 28th, 2026, at 10:00am.
