The family of Mel Seabrook is sad to announce his death on August 10, 2008. Mel was born on June 2, 1913 in Stettler, Alberta, the eldest child of Fred and Millicent Seabrook. He joined the RCAF with his brother, Tom in October 1940 and after the war continued his career with the Air Force. He moved with his family to Edmonton, Goose Bay, Trenton and Moose Jaw. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1963, the family relocated to Victoria. He then worked for the BC Forest Service until his second retirement in 1978. Mel dedicated his life to his family, his church and his love of golf and curling which he enjoyed into his 94th year. Mel has been a wonderful husband to Florence (Babbage) whom he married on August 19, 1946; caring father to Carol (Harold) Turnham, Linda (Larry) Scotten, Marilyn (John) Thornton and Ron (Linda); loving grandfather to Christine (Sean) Morris, Jeff (Tara) Turnham, Jon (Jaime) Turnham, Mike Turnham, Trevor Scotten, Laura Scotten, Dan Thornton, Kat Thornton and Lisa (Stuart) Picard and great-grandfather to Jordan Turnham, Cayden and Cole Morris and Jack Picard. Mel is survived by his sister, Margaret Barber and was predeceased by his brother Tom.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 1:30 pm in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 3800 Cedar Hill Cross Road in Victoria with a reception to follow at the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel’s memory may be made to St. Luke’s Church or a charity of your choice.
