Metro was born February 5, 1927 in Edmore, Sk and passed away May 1, 2006 in Victoria, BC, with his family by his side. He will be remembered always by Kay, his wife of 57 years; son David, daughter in-law Sandra, grand daughters Sheri and Andrea, the Monych family and many other relatives and countless friends. Soon after their marriage Metro and Kay moved to Vancouver Island where Dad built his first house in the Keating area. In 1960, Dad built their current home in Brentwood Bay. The backyard was the scene for many enjoyable bar-b-ques, parties and family dinners. After leaving the farm Metro worked his way to the West Coast. Always wanting to try something new he tried his hand at a variety of jobs. He devoted 35 years to his job at Butler Brothers at their Keating facility. Captain Crunch retired in 1989.Always one to enjoy a good joke, Metro could put a smile on anyone’s face (and usually did) with his goofy pranks. His hearty laugh will always be fondly remembered. Metro was a very skilled woodworker and always amazed his family and friends with his projects and creations. He loved working in his shop, looking after his garden, fishing and smoking his own salmon, bird watching and a nice nap.Metro will be lovingly remembered for his laugh, joyful spirit, generosity and kind and gentle heart. You couldn’t help but to love Metro.

“Spike is waiting for you, Grandpa.”

Prayers will be offered in McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, on Thursday, May 4th at 7:00 p.m.
