April 21, 1923 – October 13, 2015

Our Heavenly Father called Myrtle home. It is with joy we celebrate her life and memory.  Myrtle was born in Victoria the daughter of Ernie and Ruth Bent. Her grandmother, Annie Bent, was born in Esquimalt on October 26, 1876.   Myrtle was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army and spent her life helping others.  She worked for 26 years at the New Method Laundry then a few years at a hospital laundry, then at a bakery.  Knitting was her passion and her many sweaters will live on.  You could hear her at church tickling the keys of the piano or in earlier days, singing at church in a trio.  Mum and dad’s home was always open.  If they weren’t at church, they were at the bowling alley.  Mum and dad bowled with top bowlers May and Cy Wallis.  They were known around town as the “strong team”.

Mum is survived by her husband of 70 years Nelson, daughter, June (Dave), granddaughter Tracey (Dan) and great grandchildren, Abbey and Nate and brother, Ernie Bent and family.

Special thanks to Dr. Crofton for 29 years of care. Thank you to the staff at Broadmead and thank you to nurses Shea and Chelsea at Victoria General Hospital, for their tender love and care.

A celebration of life will be held at the Victoria Citadel Salvation Army on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted in Myrtle’s memory to the Victoria Citadel Salvation Army youth program.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.
