Born in Campo Di Giove, Italy, Palma passed away peacefully on December 31. She was predeceased by her husband, Liberatore and her daughter, Anna Soberg; brothers, Leonardo and Elio. She is survived by her sister, Giuseppina (Franco); her sons, Saverio (Carrie) and Vittorio (Claire); grandchildren, Ashley (Tony), Stefan, Jarrod, Dominic and Isabella.
Palma immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1952 and arrived in Victoria 11 months after her husband. While en route to Victoria, she arrived in Halifax and travelled via train across a snow-covered Canada.
Widowed at a young age, Palma worked hard to raise her three children, always instilling strong values.. She was fiercely independent. Palma spent much of her retirement helping care for her grandchildren and cooking for family. Nonna’s Sunday dinners and Christmas treats will be sadly missed. La famiglia e tutto.
Services will be held at St. Joseph the Worker on Thursday, January 7 at 11:30 am followed with interment at Royal Oak Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria Hospice.
