Born in Liverpool on November 26, 1935. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13th at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, after a long and courageous fight against Cancer. Dearly loved by his brother, Neil and sister-in-law, Carol; his nephew, Patrick; his three nieces, Virginia, Lucinda and Georgina and their families who all live either in the Isle of Man or the UK. Peter completed his Military Service, serving in the Royal Navy in 1956, when he immigrated to Canada. He lived first in Montreal but after a few years, he moved West to Vancouver where he was able to indulge his passion for sailing. He was a Past Commodore of Vancouver Rowing Club Yachting Section. Initially, he worked in the lumber industry but eventually became a Yacht Broker. In the last ten years of his life, he lived in Victoria, where he started to paint with great enthusiasm becoming an accomplished artist. He will be remembered with great fondness by his extended family and by his many sailing and artist friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Clubhouse of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, 3475 Ripon Road in Oak Bay between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, to which his former colleagues and all of his friends will be welcome.

Dudley & I are very sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. We knew him for the years he lived in Calgary & always enjoyed his company. He was a groomsman at our wedding in 1967.We met his parents when they came to Canada to visit him & later stayed with them on holiday on the Isle of Man. Peter camped, fished, skied & partied with us & other friends. We had lots of fun! If I listen carefully, I can still hear his jolly, hearty laugh.

Susan & I are saddened by the news of Peter’s Passing. He will be fondly remembered always. We knew him as a gentle man with a great flair for living. He tried and was accomplished at many things. He golfed, skied, sailed, canoed and fished amongst his many pass times. He continued to enjoy many of these interests after his professional careers, including painting and RC sailing his one metre boat. He challenged the Crossword Puzzle every morning, and sometimes would consent to eating a good fry up. His stories were captivating. One involved a Queen’s Bed and the last British Battleship. We believe it to be true! We were lucky to know him, and so glad to hear that you were able to travel from so far away to be at his side. Peter spoke highly of his brother Neil, Carol and their family. To have you there with him would have been the best support Peter could have had.

    Sincerely, Daryl and Susan McNeill
