Our beloved mom and wife passed away on October 7, 2013 at Victoria Hospice after bravely fighting cancer for two years. Pui Kwun (Michelle) Kwan was born on June 15, 1957 in Kaiping, China. Moving to Canada in 1984 in search of a better life, she met Chew Yong Kwan and the two married, then had their first son, Henry, all in that same year. The amount of love in Michelle’s life grew tremendously in 1984. Three years later, Michelle gave birth to their second son, Tony — the family was complete. Chew, Henry, and Tony were the loves of her life and she ours.
Our family would like to thank all the people who helped us during Michelle’s fight. From medical staff to family and friends, you made Michelle’s final years comfortable and happy. We’d also like to implore everyone to get screened regularly for cancer or other diseases.
Though the world is now darker for us, the love Michelle had for us in life and the memory of our beautiful mom will act as our light as we move forward.
Funeral Service will be held at McCall’s Funeral Home, Johnson & Vancouver Streets at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013 with interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.
