Bob peacefully passed away in Victoria, BC on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 77.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Dannon in 2020 and his parents, Winston and Christine Herr.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda, his son, Ash and his tiny companion, Twiggy.

Bob will also be missed by his sister, Bev Galbraith (Arnold) and family including nephew, Darren (Marilyn) and family and nephew, Darcy (Desirae) and family. Sadly, his niece, Brenda predeceased him in 2020.

Bob was predeceased by his sister, Connie Baker (Ross) but will be remembered by his niece, Cindy Bear (Tim) and family and nephew, Cory Baker and family.

He also leaves behind his cousins and other family members, and numerous friends including business associate and friend, Jim Christian (Sherry).

Bob was born and raised in Saskatchewan but moved away at an early age to pursue his many careers.  He mainly worked in finance but also enjoyed the many different opportunities that were presented to him over the years.  He was always ready to take on anything.  His priorities in life were to love and care for his family and travelling the world.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital over the last few weeks.  A very special thank you to the caring and compassionate MAID Team.

A memorial service with a reception to follow will be planned in a few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the SPCA or any local animal rescue organization.

My heartfelt condolences to Linda, Ashley, and wee Twiggy. You and Bob handled this final earthside wild roller coaster journey with such grace and strength. Bob had such a presence and I always enjoyed him, even though I hadn’t known him very long. (Linda, now we will have to carry our own suitcases on our little adventures).
    Sending love.

Dearest Linda and Ash, we were so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. We will always remember the wonderful times we shared watching Saskatchewan Roughriders games with Bob and Clarence shouting the loudest when they scored. Also wonderful ski trips on the bus with Bob and his “bar briefcase” ready to mix a drink. We always knew when Bob was coming to see Linda in her 105 Street apartment because of his wonderful whistling.

Our hearts are breaking for you and your son during this sad time.

I was truly blessed to know Robert for 50 years – many great memories and lots of laughs. I always enjoyed Bob and totally respected him. His generosity was endless whether it was a glass of wine or a wonderful meal. Spending time with this family has been one of my greatest joys. I pray that Bob and Dannon are together again and hope he shares a few pints with my John. It is a mew chapter for Linda, Ash and Twiggy but you have a strong circle of people who love you and support you. I am proud to be part of that circle. A good man – gone too soon.

  • Stuart and Doris Carrol

To Linda, Ash, Twiggy and all family members, please accept our condolences at this sad time.

Bob and Linda loved to travel and were a very complimentary couple who were devastated by Dannon’s death, a sad time that was shared by many, including McCall Bros staff.

May all the loving memories of his life be a comfort to Linda and the Family as time goes by.

  • Arnold and Bev

    Linda and Ashley,

I am sorry to hear about Bob. When I think of Bob I see him smiling and feel the warmth and kindness from it. He is always Dannon’s Dad to me. What I know is he was wise, really funny, loved his family deeply and Dannon always loved her Sunday dinners especially when Dad made a great steak! I send you my love and condolences. Your family is in my heart and I send you the biggest hug. ❤️

My deepest condolences to Linda, Ashley and family.

Mr Herr (Bob) will be greatly missed.

Such a smart, giving, thoughtful, great person. Bob had the best sense of humour too. He always brought a smile to my face, along with the lovely Linda & Ashley.

A great father, great husband, a great friend and a great mentor. Bob taught me a lot. I always thought he would have made an amazing professor or leader. He had patience, so smart & a great presence. Easy to like and admire.

I know where Ashley and my wonderful friend Dannon got their greatness & kindness. With parents like Bob and Linda, apples don’t fall far from the trees. Such a beautiful, kind, close family.

I am so happy I got to spend more time with Bob, Linda and Ashley over the last few years. Very special times together that I will never forget! Time together re: someone very special to us all, that had a ton of meaning to us all. Happy to spend time with Bob and Linda just before Christmas. Always made me part of very special times.

I know Bob is now with his beautiful, brilliant daughter Dannon.
One day we will all meet again.
