Irwin – Ross B. DFM-CD, passed away peacefully at his home in Victoria, BC on July 15, 2008. Ross is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Elfrieda Irwin, many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. During the Second World War he served with the RAF in bomber command and received an immediate award of the DFM for his efforts during a night-fighter attack during a raid on Wupperthal, Germany. After the war Ross studied medicine, joined the Navy and served as an Anaesthetist in five military hospitals and acted as Commanding Officer of three of the four major hospitals in existence at the time.

A Memorial Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 2295 Weiler Avenue, Sidney, BC on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 am. Contributions to the Canadian Cancer Research Society, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria BC, V8R 6V5 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
