Ruth MacLaren (nee Higman) passed away in her sleep on December 23, 2011 in Victoria, BC. She was born on February 11, 1919 in Ottawa, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband, John in 1987, Ruth is survived by her daughters, Connie and Beth and their husbands, David and Len and by her nephews, David, Gordon and George Ogilvie and their families. Ruth worked for British Intelligence in South America in the War and her vocabulary was peppered with Spanish phrases into her old age. Married in Ottawa at the end of the War, she worked part-time while raising her family which was her greatest love – followed closely by her enduring affection for Westies. The family is grateful for the kind support of the staff at Craigdarroch Care Home during Ruth’s short stay there.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
