October 1, 1941 – January 4, 2011

Passed quietly in Victoria, B.C. to a foe that could not suppress her love, laughter, ready smile or the love she felt for family and friends. After a long and arduous journey, she has finally found peace. Ever the optimist, she took every day as a blessing, happy to be alive and feel the warmth of the sun or the cool of a refreshing rain.

Predeceased by her soul mate and loving husband, Graham Bruce Wachter; her parents, Luxandra and Jacques Wiart and brother, Eugene Wiart; and her brother-in-law Blair Wachter (Ann-Mari).

Those that remain will miss Sandy but forever cherish the memory of a person life could not beat down. This includes her daughters, Dorinda Wachter (Teresa) and Ronella Mitchell (Mike); her seven grandchildren and two grand-puppies. Her brothers, Maurice (Terry) and Raoul (Louise) Wiart and their families; a special aunt and uncle, Ruthy Keays and Teddy Sedawie; sister-in-laws, Carole Wells (Basil), Daphne Feusier (Paul) and brother-in-law Bernie Wachter; God-daughter Maureen Helgesen-McKenzie; and all cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

Sandy will be missed by all who knew her and still hold her in their hearts. She would not want us to mourn her death but to cherish her life. She accepted what life had dealt without complaint; she showed how to live and enjoy life and to laugh despite adversity. She and Bruce are once again together!

A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 1pm at the Metchosin Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
