AUGUST 19, 1943 – JUNE 10, 2011

The family of Sandra Grace Lutz (nee Bahsler) are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the age of 67. Sandra was born in Melville, SK to Phillip and Alta (nee Parlee) Bahsler. Sandra attended Wilton School in Birmingham, SK and Hiltop and Garden Pearl Creek School where her mother, Alta, was employed as a teacher. She graduated from Melville High School in 1961 and that fall enrolled at the Teachers College in Regina, SK. After obtaining her Teacher’s Certificate she taught at Central and Miller Schools in Melville, SK and at Queen Elizabeth School in Regina.
July 9, 1966 Sandra married Gerald Lutz and they moved to Cloverdale, BC where Sandra taught at the Surrey Center School and Harold Bishop School. In 1969 they moved to North Burnaby, BC and in 1971 they moved to Victoria, BC. September 16, 1971 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kristen Alta. During their daughter’s early years Sandra was very activeat the Redeemer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, served on the board and was the church organist. In 1984 Sandra graduated with her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Victoria. Sandra enjoyed first and foremost spending time with her husband, daughter and three grandchildren, travelling, reading, walking, water colouring and listening to classical music. Before Sandra’s first bout of cancer in 1995 she also enjoyed curling and golfing. She was predeceased by her parents Phillip and Alta Bahsler, andsister Elaine Lutz. Sandra is survived by herloving husband Gerald, daughter Kristen (Sal) and grandchildren Tyler, Nathan, Sara and nephew Kevin Lutz and niece Sandra (Tim) Hollinger, aunt Emma Melmoth, close cousins Ruth (Ed) Lutz, Bruce (Florence) Parlee, Ruth Bahsler, Beulah (Bruce) Bowering. She will be lovingly remembered by sister in laws, Mary Stachowski, Elsie (Frank) Zulyniak, Violet Kerestesh, Ruth Lypka, Janice (Gordie) McMaster, brother in laws, Ed (Ruth) Lutz, Gordon (Joyce) Lutz, Art Lutz and numerous other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 16th @ 1:00 p.m. at Church Of The Advent, 510 Mount View Ave., Colwood, BC.Interment will at Hatley Memorial Gardens followed by a reception at the Church Hall.
