We share the sad news that our father, Sardar Ajit Singh Nijjer, passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2024. He was born in Multan on June 15th, 1930. After the partitions, the family moved to Ajnala, district of Amritsar.
Sardar Ajit Singh Nijjer came to Canada in 1990 with his late wife Mohinder Kaur, Son Rajdeep Nijjer and his daughter Parminder Virk, to join his eldest daughter Kashmir Kler and Husband Karampal Kler.He joined the Punjab Armed Police in 1962 and he saw 2 conflicts – China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1965. In Victoria, he was also a committee member at the Khalsa Diwan Society for a few years and had great pride serving his community.
He leaves behind his children – Kashmir Kaur Kler (Karampal Singh Kler), Kashmir Singh Nijjer (Late Kulwinder Kaur Nijjer), Parminder Kaur Virk (Jagir Singh Virk), and Rajdeep Singh Nijjer (Kuljinder Kaur Nijjer). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 24th at 11 AM at McCall Gardens & Sequoia Centre 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.
