Scott passed away bravely and peacefully on July 29th, 2026, in Victoria, BC. He was born on February 27th, 1943, in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Predeceased by his father, Flight Lieutenant (RCAF 416 Squadron) Walter Norman Douglas (1921-1945), his mother Ruth (White) Douglas (1913-2005), and many other relatives in BC and Ontario. Scott is survived by his loving and devoted wife Veronica, his daughter Rebecca (Keith) Halper, and son Luke. Grandchildren Max and Lucy. Also survived by other relatives in Ontario and BC.
Scott was a passionate and professional actor for over 60 years in theatre and film. He was an original founding member of the ACT in San Francisco. His extensive career brought him to many cities all over North America, and abroad.
While filming Night Heat in Toronto, he met his wife, Veronica. They married in 1990 and moved to Salt Spring Island, BC where they built their dream home, and raised their children. Scott was actively involved in the community and took great pleasure acting and directing numerous plays. He had great passion for Shakespeare, Samuel Beckett, and Dylan Thomas. Nothing pleased Scott more than the theatre. He immersed himself in character roles and was a true actor in every sense of the word. He performed many times at ArtSpring, The Belfry, The MacPherson and Blue Bridge theatres in BC. He also performed in Stratford, and numerous other theatres across Canada.
In 2015 Scott and Veronica moved to Victoria, and they immersed themselves in the city and the Vic West community. Scott rediscovered his passion for writing and wrote a memoir, Leaf in the Wind as a legacy for his children and grandchildren. Scott was a grounded and humble man with a huge heart. He lived by the golden rule and greeted everyone with a smile and a laugh. He loved to hear people’s stories. He put others before himself and lived each day to the fullest with no regrets.
The family is grateful to BC Cancer, especially to his oncologist Dr. Blachet-St. Pierre, the Palliative care team at RJH, Dr. Levendall, and the wonderful Dr. David Woodley.
