Seyram was born in Keta, Ghana, on December 5, 1980, to Justice Gray Horve Amegah (father, deceased) and Juliet Kumansenu (mother).

In 1995, Seyram moved to Canada, where she attended John Barsby Secondary School in Nanaimo and later Esquimalt High School in Victoria. After graduating, she enrolled at Camosun College and earned an associate degree in Computer Science. She went on to the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), where she graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Economics and Mathematics, followed by a Master of Business Administration degree. It was in Prince George, during her time at UNBC, that she met her beloved husband, Kobby. In 2007, Seyram and Kobby relocated to Victoria, where they built a life together and raised four wonderful children.

Our cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend went to be with her Lord on September 17, 2025. Seyram is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Kobby, and their children: Ohenewaa (15), Chief (13), Nana Yaw (11), and Nana Ama (5). She is lovingly remembered by many aunties and uncles, half-siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Canada and abroad.

Seyram, we take comfort and peace in knowing you are with the Lord, and you and the cherished memories we shared will forever remain in our hearts. You filled our lives with love, laughter, and countless memories that will always remain with us.

“For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”

— Romans 14:7–8

May you find eternal rest in the Lord. Rest in perfect peace Mama!

I had the privilege of working with Seyram during a web project in 2022/23. I admired her warmth, work ethic and (often surprising!) sense of humour. I experienced her welcoming nature firsthand when I visited her office during a day they had a potluck. Though the potluck was over, Seyram made me an entire plate of food to take home with me.

Seyram, I wish I had the chance to tell you how much I appreciated you. Thank you for your friendship. I am glad heaven doesn’t have a border services department so they won’t be confiscating any octopus from you (wink). But in case they do, you know who to call.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I am heartbroken to learn of Seyram’s passing. She was the very first African-Canadian colleague I met when I joined the BC Public Service in 2017. At a time when I was struggling to settle into life in Victoria, Seyram went out of her way to offer help, even speaking with her husband about ways to support me with accommodation. That kindness left a lasting mark on my heart.
I feel deeply grateful for the chance to have spoken with her just this past August at Coastline, as we waited for our children to leave for church camp. We shared laughter and stories, moments that now feel especially precious.
Seyram, you will be missed more than words can express. I pray for comfort and strength for Kobby and the children, and for all who loved you. Your light will continue to inspire us, even as we mourn your loss. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Not sure where to begin or end but the good Lord knows best. We remember vividly that very moment when you left the shores of Ghana to Canada. We also remember your very first solo visit after staying in Canada for some few years, and then, the other subsequent visits. Those memories keep playing back like a movie. Growing up together was simple yet humbling, it was fun yet challenging, it was full of love but had it moments, it was adventurous yet modulated with strict discipline. The bond we shared was so closely knitted that everyone knew you as our last born. Interestingly, you as our kid sister then, had demonstrated from a very young age the penchant for your own opinion which had earned you the nickname ‘Yohana’. And indeed, for Danga and us, Yohana became your unofficial name. Hearing your sudden demise is a horrible dream we are still trying to wake up from. In fact, we may not be able to wake up but we are comforted that you are at a better place. May your legacy live on. Rest thee well Yohana!

    Condolence Message for Amegah Seyram

It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of our dear friend and classmate, Amegah Seyram. We shared many beautiful memories during our time together at Dzelukope Roman Catholic School—
especially the moments we stood side by side reciting poems, proudly representing our school in inter-school competitions. Her vibrant spirit, warm heart, and passion for life touched all who knew her.

This loss is painful for all of us who knew her from those early years, and our hearts go out especially to her family and the children she has left behind. May you find strength and comfort in the loving memories you shared with her, and may her soul rest in perfect peace.

Seyram baba nawo loo nadzidzor Lenutifafa me . Mawu ne da wo de tefe fafe ade.

I am deeply saddened to know of the loss of Seyram. My late husband,Lance & I, ‘adopted’ her into our family when she met Koby here in Prince George so many years ago. She was a kind, loving, caring person with a mischievous streak and sense of humour. She was a loving wife, mother & daughter very much committed to her Lord & Saviour to teach and live by example, His principles, to her family.

My heartfelt sympathy to you Koby, Oheneewa, Chief, Nana Yaw, Nana Ama and Juliet for your loss. Know that my prayers are with you all and will continue in the years ahead as you grieve the loss of Seyram.
    Love
    Pat

I met Seyram and Kobby while living in Prince George, British Columbia many years ago. I was new to the city and they were part of a group of wonderful people who welcomed me; we became friends. I will never forget the kindness they showed, it meant the world to me.

I have long since moved back to my home in East Preston, Nova Scotia, but have thought fondly of them often over the years.

Kobby and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Seyram, she was beautiful, inside and out. I look at her picture and she is exactly as I remember. Her smile still warms the heart.

I pray that God will sustain you and your children through this difficult time; and that the memories you have shared with Seyram give you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Love and Peace be with you.
    Melda

Growing up together feels like a lifetime of memories wrapped in laughter, mischief, and love. We shared more than just a family bond — we shared dreams, secrets, and the innocent joy of childhood. From the days we played without worry to the times life began to show us its challenges, you were always a constant presence — strong, caring, and full of life.

Life didn’t always treat us kindly, but you faced every trial with grace and courage. Even when the world grew heavy, your heart remained light.
I’ll never forget your late-night calls — those simple check-ins that meant so much. Whether it was to make sure we were okay, share a laugh, or just to hear a familiar voice, those moments now echo in my heart as precious memories.

You were more than a cousin; you were a sister, a friend, and a guiding light. Your love reached beyond distance and time, and though you’re no longer here with us, your spirit continues to live in our hearts.

Rest well, dear Sister. Your kindness, laughter, and love will never fade. We will hold onto your memory and cherish the bond we shared — forever.
