April 11, 1929 – March 16, 2013

In the early hours of March 16th, Shirley passed peacefully to join her husband, Charlie, of 59 years, to be together forever in heaven. Also predeceased are her parents, Charles and Alice; her brother, Charles and her daughter, Alice. Shirley Turvey was born in Calgary, Alberta and returned to Ireland on the death of her mother, Alice. She grew up in Dungannon, Co Tyrone and moved to Donaghadee, Co Down to begin her Hairdressing career with her Aunt Eileen. At sixteen years of age, she met another Charlie, who was to be the love of her life. In 1981, after an anniversary trip to Vancouver Island, Shirley and Charlie began their new life in Victoria,Vancouver Island. And so, the circle was complete when Shirley returned to Canada, her country of birth. She was so proud of her Canadian heritage. Shirley is survived by her loving children, Carmel (Colm), Geraldine,Veronica, Kevin (Keri), Cathal (Meiyan) and Edward (Sarah). She also leaves behind her six grandchildren, Martin, Philip, Declan, Riley, Amy and Arnold. Mum’s greatest gift to her family was her unconditional love.

“A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence.”
