
Thomas (Tom) Theobald passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the age of 98 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Eve in 1978 after 37 happy years of marriage. Tom is survived by his step-daughters, Lily Dean (James) and Maureen Miller (Derek); 6 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and by his friend of many years Margaret Wright. Tom was born in London, England and joined Army Reserves in1939 and then conscripted into 53rd Medium Regiment in May 1939. He survived the Battle of Dunkirk and also fought in India and Burma. During his Army service with the Royal Artillery he earned 6 Medals and was most proud of the medal from the Territorial Army (Reserves). He was a long time member of the 800 Wing of the RCAFA in Victoria. Tom’s working years were with Eaton’s and the University of Victoria. Tom met his future wife, Eve Stoker, in early 1939 and married in 1941 prior to being shipped to India. They emigrated to Canada in 1957 living in Victoria on Vancouver Island, where they enjoyed many happy years together.
A Memorial Reception will be held at McCall’s Downtown, at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to a charity of your choice.
