IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS the family announces the passing of Tito Hoogland. Tito was born and raised in Friesland, Holland, and while growing up, he was surrounded by his family, 3 brothers, a sister and many friends. Tito became interested in becoming a carpenter at an early age, going off to a trade school in his teens. Tito’s early love for building became an important part of his entire life. Tito left his hometown and immigrated with his new bride Epie to Canada in 1951 and started his Canadian career as a carpenter in Campbell River where he built his first home. Tito’s life as a carpenter and builder included projects such as single family homes, apartments, offices, schools and churches on Vancouver Island. It was with his vision that Frisia Construction was built as a company to provide a culture of cooperation between management and employees. His passion for building and his inspiration and love for his friends and employees resulted in many of them becoming leaders in today’s construction industry on Vancouver Island. Tito was a proud, loving, protective father, husband, brother and gentleman who will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Tito is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Epie, Walter Hoogland and Marilynn Sims, Dick Hoogland, Florina and Harry Neutel, Rita and Norm Prins, Evelyn and Nick Hogewoning, Joe and Hester Hoogland, his 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Tito will be joining his son, Tito Gerald Hoogland, also a builder, and together they will build a mansion in heaven. Thank you to all the staff at Hospice, nurses and Dr. Gail Saiger for all the support, care and love you showed to our father .

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 13, at 1:00 pm at Victoria Christian Reformed Church, 661 Agnes Street.
