Vera was born in Burns Lake, BC on the 3rd of December 1928 and died on the 5th of January 2009 after struggling many years with Alzheimer’s. Vera will be lovingly remembered by Jack, her husband of 59 years; sons, James and Larry; daughters, Wendy (Timothy) Anderson, Linda (Albert) DeWitt; five grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Vera joined Sons of Norway in 1959 and served in numerous offices including four years as President of the Local Lodge and also four years as Cultural Director of District #7 Sons of Norway. She was also a member of the L.0.B.A. serving as Worthy Mistress and as a Grand Lodge Treasurer. Her passion was bowling; she was a certified instructor and served many years on the Board of the Bowler’s Association of BC. She also loved Rosemaling (Norwegian Decorative Painting) and shared her talent by conducting classes in many cities in BC. In her memory, a bursary has been established to preserve and promote Rosemaling in Canada. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Sons of Norway Foundation in Canada, #2001 – 4380 Halifax Street, Burnaby, BC V5C 6R3 or the charity of your choice.

A Funeral Service will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm.
