August 4, 1922 – April 20, 2012
Violet passed peacefully in her home with family. She is survived by her children Debra, Douglas, Brian and Kevin; grandchildren Christopher, Hailee, Hannah, Jonathan and Jessica; and her great grandchild Tiauna.
A dedicated mother, grandmother and homemaker, Violet had a long, full life, loving and loved by her family, as well as many years of service as a caregiver at Rose Manor. Originally of Melville Saskatchewan, Violet, with her husband Palmer (d. 2008), were long time residents of Victoria, and local fixtures in Fernwood – their home for over 50 years. Her door was always open for coffee and chat. Violet made an impression on all who were lucky enough to know her. Good, bad, but never indifferent, she always had a strong opinion tempered by great wisdom – and you were likely to hear it. Her indomitable spirit and determination were equally inspirational; our lives are richer for it. Violet will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 2 pm.
In her memory, an informal reception will be held on Tuesday, April 24th at 1337 Gladstone Avenue between 4 – 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospice Foundation.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Sue Simard My sincere apologies, I meant to write Vi, not Ivy. Not the best time for a slip like that. Again, I’m sorry.

Sue Simard Kevin, so sorry for the loss of your mom. What a difficult time for you and your family. I guess that knowing she’s with your dad must give you all some comfort. I have such colourful memories of the many many times I went over to Gladstone Ave. Palmer in the garage and Ivy in the kitchen. You mean so much to us Kevin and you’re in our thoughts. See you tomorrow.
